Celebrating the sport of basketball with artist Victor Solomon

From his “literally balling line”, artist Victor Solomon has created a new interactive Japanese Kintsugi basketball court to celebrate sport and the positivity

From his “literally balling line”, artist Victor Solomon has created a new interactive Japanese Kintsugi basketball court to celebrate sport and the positivity it holds for many people.

Instead of discarding broken pottery, traditional Japanese Kintsugi fills cracked seams with gold. Solomon has applied this redemptive technique to restore a neglected basketball court in South Los Angeles, USA. Both his act, and the act of playing a team sport itself, point to the power of healing and unification.

“Literally Balling is artist Victor Solomon’s on-going exploration of the icons and totems of basketball - elevated in opulent form to celebrate the sport’s evolution, omnipresence and parallel luxury context from antiquated mediums and processes,” reads the project description.
